Click here if you would like to read an overview of my 2 weeks vacation in Southern Taiwan. We were told by everyone about how amazing the food in Tainan is. I think we expected a little too much. We were also quite unlucky in a way that the highly recommended food stores were either closed for the day, sold out, or closed during the timing we were at. Well, we had our fair bit of fun in Tainan. We took a train from Kaohsiung to Tainan which cost only SGD$3 and takes about an hour. We stayed at Tainan Station Oldman Captain Hostel 台南車站 老曼船長 青年旅館, recommended by my godbrother. Great location! (located right beside Tainan train station), it used to be the railway office. The owner of the hostel is extremely funny and nice, we had such a great time chatting with him! The cheapest dorm cost about SGD$20 per night. We spent 3 days in Tainan and what we did mainly was food trail. Here are some of the food stores that we were recommended:
Other places that we went:
Overall, Tainan was my least favorite place out of all, but it's still a good place to visit especially if you are interested in Taiwanese History.

Hi! I am Taiwanese but I go to school to Hong Kong. I went to Ah-Ming-Zhu-xing and it was great!. Of course as you maybe expected I was queuing up for 1 and a half hours but it was totally worth it! But.. me and my dad did manage to get a few customers out of line by saying we might queue up until 8pm. I also went to An Ping Old Fort. It was an amazing experience! I had brought my drawing pad and art supplies and I started drawing right away! I highly recommend you to go to Confucius Temple. It is a great tourist attraction and you can admire the scenery there. Chikan Lou is also a great place to go to. You can feed the squirrels too! If you have some spare time you could go to Chimei Museum too! The Chimei Museum (奇美博物館) is a fabulous museum. In the Chimei Museum there is a fine arts gallery, a great animal gallery with all sorts of animals, a place with swords, helmets and armour, a orchestra room with musical instruments, white marble sculptures, fossils, artifacts, splendid souvenir shops and stamps. The museum is known for housing the world's largest violin collection and for its significant collections of ancient weapons and sculptures. The Chimei Museum itself is a work of art. The entrance of the square has a grand Fountain of Apollo (阿波羅噴泉), and a bridge crosses the moat with a row of fierce white lion heads along the side and solemn Olympus (奧林帕斯) statues on top. The front entrance of the museum features a tall dome shape and Greek columns. Perched at the building’s highest point is the Angel of Glory (榮耀天使) to symbolize the glory of the world. The main building is 150 meters wide at the front and 42 meters tall, and it cost NTD 1.3 billion to build.

Sorry. I must say that whenever I went to Tainan my dad would always take me to Ah-Ming-Zhu-Xin. I definitely think you should try it the next time you go to Tainan.
